B.C. first responders get easier access to mental health support

Labour Minister Harry Bains has announced legislative amendments that will allow first responders, sheriffs and correctional officers who experience job-related trauma to receive assistance without providing proof that the injury was related to their work. This will allow first responders an easier access to mental health support, and will greatly relieve the stress or trauma associated with the job. These amendments will be introduced this week, and if approved by the legislature, will go into affect as soon as possible.
